About

Joshua Neale is an award winning filmmaker based between East London and West Wales. With a unique background in both acting and documentary filmmaking Joshua’s work is characterised by a striking authenticity, heartfelt emotion and cinematic storytelling.

His directorial debut was the inventive musical documentary “Karaoke Soul” for Channel 4, which was nominated for the BAFTA Breakthrough Award. This was followed by his feature debut Despicable Dick & Righteous Richard hailed by Screen International as 'a bold, engaging and moving documentary’. The film premiered in Competition at Tribeca Film Festival before a successful festival run and broadcast on BBC’s Storyville strand.

An acclaimed commercials director, Joshua has made films for brands including Johnnie Walker, Huawei, Stella Artois, IKEA, CBeebies and Nike Jordan, and for charities UNICEF, RMHC, and Water.org - his work winning awards including Cannes Lions, British Arrows, EPICA, AICP, D&AD and other acronyms you haven’t heard of.

Joshua is a Berlinale Talent Campus alumni, Bafta Connect member and is currently developing his first feature drama script with the support of Robert Redford’s Sundance Institute. He aims to continue working in branded, documentary, fiction and anywhere in between making emotive and cinematic films with powerful human stories at their core.
